A Weekend of Fishing, Family, and Conservation
The Bobby Lane Cup isn’t just another fishing tournament—it’s a celebration of family, community, and a love for the water. Star brite was proud to show up in full force this year, joining anglers, families, and outdoor enthusiasts for a weekend filled with incredible moments, meaningful connections, and a shared commitment to conservation.
Here’s a look at how the event unfolded and the role we played in making it special.
Firing Up the Fun
If there’s one thing Star brite knows, it’s that a good meal brings people together. Led by Star brite President Greg Dornau and Danny Beard, our team spent the weekend at the grill cooking BBQ for anglers, volunteers, and families. For three straight days, the smell of smoky goodness filled the air, inviting everyone to stop by, grab a plate, and share a laugh.
It wasn’t just about the food—it was about showing up for the community and making sure everyone felt welcome.
The Art of Conservation
Fishing and art might seem like an unexpected pair, but for Star brite’s own Derek Redwine, they go hand-in-hand. Leading up to the event, Derek hit the water with Bobby Lane himself to catch bass, gather inspiration, and study their unique details. Using those real-life references, he created a stunning bass painting that was auctioned off at the tournament.
The result? A $3,000 donation to support the Bobby Lane Cup and its mission to inspire young anglers. The painting may have been finished before the event, but its journey—rooted in time on the water—captured the heart of what the tournament is all about.
Conservation in Action
Protecting the waters we love is just as important as enjoying them. That’s why Star brite brought Project SeaSafe to the Bobby Lane Cup, leading conservation efforts that got everyone involved.
From mangrove and clam restoration to a lively trash clean-up contest, participants had the chance to give back to the waterways they fish. Equipped with Star brite mesh bags, anglers collected trash while on the water, proving that even small actions can make a big difference.
It was a hands-on way to inspire awareness and show that conservation can be both fun and impactful.
Family, Fishing, and the Next Generation
The heart of the Bobby Lane Cup is its focus on family and youth. With over 5,000 attendees, the event brought together anglers of all ages—from kids casting lines for the first time to seasoned pros sharing tips and stories.
The tournament raised over $70,000 for junior angler scholarships, directly supporting the next generation of anglers and outdoor enthusiasts. Watching kids light up with excitement as they fished, learned, and explored was a powerful reminder of why events like these matter.
Why Star brite Shows Up
At Star brite, we’re more than just a brand. We’re a team that loves the water and understands the importance of protecting it for the future. Whether we’re firing up the grills, raising funds, or leading conservation efforts, we’re here to make a difference and connect with the communities who share our passion.
The Bobby Lane Cup was a perfect example of how fishing brings people together—not just to compete, but to celebrate, protect, and inspire.
From the grill to the water and everywhere in between, Star brite is proud to support events that keep the spirit of fishing alive for generations to come.
Until next time—see you on the water!
